Education to Leadership and Management
Education to Leadership and Management
Dear Educators
The art of education is to make the students come to grip with the reality that “You are capable of more than you know” like the air in the balloon. The balloon’s capacity to fly high depends very much on the stuffed air inside. Every educator aims to achieve this personally for every individual day by day, in building up one’s capacity to be a person of character in the society in which he lives.
In the fast changing world, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) takes precedence in everything, the responsibility and challenges for the educator has changed very much. In fact, today “You can’t spell CHA(LLE)NGE without CHANGE”. In the art of sculpting, every teacher is called to impart knowledge in order to develop leadership and managerial skills in their students to face the challenges of the future. Indeed, leadership and management are seen as two poles in the world of organization. And so, today more than ever, we need motivating and inspiring teachers, who would mould students towards people oriented and tasks oriented, do right things and do things right, be effective and efficient, to act upon the systems and operate within the systems, keeping to the mindset of Don Bosco’s educative system.
Don Bosco, who is an all time model for education of the young, in the pursuit of his desire to save the whole person, offers practical steps that demonstrate the brilliant managerial-educative vision of an inspiring leader. His style of leadership is characterized by trust, friendship and familiarity. He is a powerful dreamer and visionary. Analyzing his life and mindset, we can see the synergetic connectedness between leadership and management.
1. Reason and Religion
Loving Kindness in a family environment expresses his managerial aspect of education, which includes contents, strategies, programmes and activities. These are directed towards the attainment of the goals: to become good human being and honest citizen.
2. Answer to a need
Preventive Action which describes of his education that responds to the actual needs of the deserving young, at the same time empowers them to gain knowledge and skills that prepare them for better life.
3. Personal Identity
Team Collaboration which binds everyone to a vast movement of persons, in which his leadership ability to appreciate and combine the gifts and differences of everyone makes an impact in their personal life.
Let us imitate Don Bosco to impart knowledge and talents to our youth of “future India,” by blending leadership and management skills in them. Let us strive to make the dream of Don Bosco become a reality in our educational career.
Lovingly in the Spirit of Don Bosco,
Fr. Victor Antonyraj SDB
