We, the Department of Mathematics, organized an Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition "RAPIDO'23" on 1st September 2023. Rev. Fr. Arul Raj SDB, Principal, Don Bosco CBSE School, Sayalkudi was the Chief Guest. The quiz competition was conducted in two phases. Phase-1 was Preliminary which was conducted from 10.45 A.M. to 11.45. A.M. Forty-two students from five departments (Twenty-one teams) eagerly participated in this competition. Among these, five teams were selected for the next level of oral quiz. Phase 2 was the Oral Quiz which was started at 12.00 P.M. Rev. Fr. A. Peter Arokiaraj, Academic Coordinator, DBCAS announced the finalists for the oral quiz. Ms. K. Ambika was served as a quiz master. There were seven rounds. The valedictory function was held at 2.00 P.M. in the auditorium. Rev. Fr. Victor Antonyraj (Secretary of DBCAS), Dr. R.D. Thilaga (Principal, DBCAS), Rev. Fr. Peter Arokiaraj (Academic Coordinator, DBCAS), Rev. Fr. Alexander Suresh (Coordinator of Computer Academy, DBCAS), Rev. Fr. Thomas Arockiasamy (Coordinator of Spoken English Academy, DBCAS), All the HoDs, Faculties and Students of Department of Mathematics, all the participants were present in the function. Well-structured quiz questions are framed which challenge students’ critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical abilities. The students eagerly participated in the quiz. It helped the students to identify individual and collective strengths and weaknesses. The quiz program was a notable success in achieving its objectives.

Guest Lecture

Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Applications has has jointly organized a guest lecture program on 27 th February 2023 at AV Hall from 2.00 pm to 3:30 pm. Dr. Bala Deepa Arasi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, APC Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi was invited as a Chief Guest. Udhaya Sankari, II BCA was the Master of Ceremony on that day. The meeting was started with a Prayer song (an invocation). S. Iruthaya Praveen, III B.Sc Mathematics welcomed the gathering. A. Antony Sharmila, III B Sc Mathematics introduced the speaker of the session. Rev. Dr. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary, DBCAS has presided over the function. Dr. R. D. Thilaga, Principal, DBCAS has felicitated the gathering. The chief guest delivered a talk entitled “Application of Math in Every Day Life”. S. Micheal Sugirtha, II B.Sc Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. Finally, the meeting was ended with National Anthem.

National Science Day Celebration

Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Applications has jointly celebrate National Science Day on 28 th February 2023 at AV Hall from 11.00 AM to 1.00 PM. Rev. Fr. Alexander Suresh, Assistant Professor of Computer Applications, Don Bosco College of Arts and Science, Keela Eral was invited as a Chief Guest. Rev. Dr. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary, DBCAS., Dr. R. D. Thilaga, Principal, DBCAS., all the faculties and students of Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Applications were present in the meeting. Ms. Ishwarya, III BCA was the Master of Ceremony on that day. A. Antony Sharmila, III B.Sc Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. D. Thilaga, Principal, DBCAS has felicitated the gathering. The chief guest delivered a talk entitled “Science for a Sustainable Future”. Following this a quiz competition was conducted. Prof. S. Krishnaveni and Prof. Mumtha were the quiz masters. Nine Students delivered a talk on the theme of the celebration. S. Micheal Sugirtha, II B.Sc Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. Finally, the meeting was ended with National Anthem.

The Inauguration of Mathematics Association (DAMS) has been held on 16 th September 2022 for the academic year 2022-2023 at AV Hall. S. Iruthaya Praveen, III B.Sc Mathematics was the Master of Ceremony on that day. The meeting was started with a Prayer song (an invocation). S. Micheal Sugirtha, II B.Sc Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Rev. Dr. Victor Antonyraj (Secretary, DBCAS), Ms. K. Mumtha (Chief Guest, Asst. Professor of Mathematics, DBCAS), Ms. A. Anusuya (HoD of Mathematics, DBCAS), Ms. K. Ambika (Asst. Professor of Mathematics, DBCAS), Antony Sharmila (Student representative) lighted the lamp. S. Iruthaya Praveen (III B Sc Mathematics), B. Kandharya Shrimari (II B Sc Mathematics), A. Antony Sharmila (III B Sc Mathematics) were elected as President, Secretary, Treasurer of DAMS association respectively for this academic year 2022-2023. Following this, they have taken the pledge. S. Arun Kumar, III B. Sc Mathematics introduced the speaker of the session. Rev. Dr. Victor Antonyraj, Secretary, DBCAS has honoured the Chief Guest and felicitated the function. A special lecture entitled “Empirical Aspects of Fuzzy in Current Scenario” has been delivered by Ms. K. Mumtha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, DBCAS. Sahaya Mary, II B.Sc Mathematics proposed the vote of thanks. Finally, the meeting was ended with National Anthem.
